Around 2 months back, following a bad breakup, my friend Taha came from Delhi to Patna to be with us for a few days. When he first came, he was devastated and depressed. He would call literally every day to meet. And since it was year end there wasn’t much work in office so I used to go and meet him almost everyday. Sometimes he would call at 7PM and say that he wants to come and stay for the night at my place. He used to come and we would just sit and talk or watch movies. He was in a very bad phase. We would be sitting in a group and he would just go silent for minutes. He was not able to study for his exams and was feeling very guilty about it. We offered to take him on a road trip but he used to refuse.

But eventually, he got better. Started to laugh, talk and enjoy. He was back to his old self. Not entirely, but almost. What was supposed to be a 3-4 days trip for him turned into a 2 months stay. But given how he was acting up after the breakup, I think it was for the best. Even I also got a break from my dull sitting at home routine. 3 days ago, he called me and said that he is going to go back now since his test series had started in Delhi. He is preparing for UPSC and he almost got in last year. And to be honest, he is quite intelligent and I am sure he will clear the exam. So before leaving, he wanted to meet Yash and me one last time. He had this idea of staying over for the night and watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Now, I had seen the movie once and really liked it so I was in. Yash was also in. We went to Yash’s house around 7. After watching India’s cricket match, we started the movie.

I’m not going to recap the movie now but I’ll just say that it’s a beautiful film. Even better if you’re watching it with your friends. It’s funny, emotional, and inspiring. We laughed, joked about many things and had a great time. So in the movie, there were three childhood friends who had a pact that before anyone’s marriage, each one of them would choose an adventure sport for the group and the other two would have to do it. And this put an idea in our heads to make a similar kind of pact. It doesn’t have to be an adventure sport. It can be any place that we want to visit. I’m looking forward to this. In the movie, they do scuba diving, sky diving and bull running. I just made them promise that I won’t be doing anything related to heights and they were okay with it. I have many ideas for when this pact comes into play :]

But this is still very far away. Once everyone is stable, we will get to it. For now, I will have to do with local trips and outings. The next one is already planned for March and this is going to be my longest vacation yet. 10 full days in God’s own country - Kerala. It has everything from beaches to mountains to backwaters. I’ll also be going to Kanyakumari to see the end of India 😛. I really want to travel as much as I can in the next 5 years. This is what I answer to the typical question of - “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”

I also started watching Fleabag 2 days ago. I was just browsing to find something to watch and came across this show. Opened the first episode and since it was just 25 minutes long I decided to give it a try. Plus there were only 2 seasons with 6 episodes each. So it wasn’t a big commitment. I completed it today and loved it. It’s a different kind of funny. And the story and acting were good. A little emotional towards the end but still good overall. There are only 2 seasons and no more coming. The main character talks through the fourth wall and that was kind of fun. There were a couple of great lines in the show.

“I think you know how to love better than any of us. That’s why you find it all so painful.”

“Don’t make me an optimist, you will ruin my life!”

“People are all we’ve got.”
