3 months ago, Yash and I had an idea of starting a cafe. We were in Kerala at that time when one of the shop in Yash’s complex got vacated. That’s when I suggested him to start the cafe there. At that time, he wasn’t sure about it and wanted to just rent out the shop. But I convinced him to at least give it a thought and discuss it further. The footfall in that area is crazy with almost more than 1-2lakh people walk through that road daily. It’s a coaching institute hub. Then we somehow got a contact from Nestle regarding this and they showed interest in it too. The operator head of the east zone is Rumela who is from Kolkata. Initially on the call she said that Nestle doesn’t offer operatorship to everyone but we told her to see the site once. She visited the site with her team and then saw the potential in it and gave us the nod.
13th May, the work on the cafe started. It took almost a month to complete. Parallely, I was also working on my home renovation. I designed all the graphics for the cafe and also wrote the first featured menu 😛 But at last, we opened the cafe yesterday. It was a jam packed day. We had kept 2 staff but the crowd was so huge that yash, me, yuvraj and aamir - we all had to get involved. We did almost 200 orders yesterday and the sale was way over our expectations. It was a hectic day but a fun one. And finally, we have our own coffee shop to chill!
We are going to add 2 more staff today based on yesterday’s huge success. Once they are ready to manage the pressure on their own, we deserve a nice vacation again. 😁
